THERAPEUTIC USES
As with all the applications offered by Stelline, the content of THE WHALE has been developed by experienced practitioners.
The primary aim of the application is to reduce the patient's pain and anxiety during treatment. The application can be used during treatments causing mild to moderate pain, during recurrent treatments required by certain chronic pathologies, or during prolonged waiting periods.
The application is available in two versions :
THE WHALE I for children aged 6 to 14 and THE WHALE II for adults.
THE WHALE I has been specifically developed for paediatric use. The application offers young patients a story divided into episodes. The number and length of the episodes can be adapted to the duration of the various treatments. The continuity of the story and the child's identification with the characters help to arouse their curiosity about the rest of the story and counterbalance the tediousness of the repetitive moments they spend in the care setting.
THE WHALE II uses the same narrative process to offer an experience based on the immersion principle specific to virtual reality. But these applications also have an impact on the patient's perception of the duration of the treatment, helping to prevent the onset of traumatic symptoms with regard to the carers and/or the place of treatment, and preventing failures of compliance with the treatment.
